Join us for our 8th Annual Cruizin' for a Cure on Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 12-3! We will have the Sugar and Smoke food truck, music, a bounce house, and numerous raffles. This year the benefit will be for a young warrior, Cooper Burke, from Cincinnatus.
Cooper was born on February 17, 2025 with a severe congenital heart defect known as HLHS (Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome). This defect is when the left side of the heart is extremely underdeveloped and prevents the heart from pumping blood throughout the body. Cooper was born in Syracuse, New York and transported to Rochester Galisano Children's Hospital at 2 days old, where he underwent his first open heart surgery. Unfortunately the surgery was not able to be performed the way it should be due to the size Cooper's ascending aorta. He was an inpatient at Rochester from February 19 through April 5th when he was then transported via medical plane to Columbia Presbyterian in New York City. On April 8th Cooper underwent his second open heart surgery which was successful. Two weeks after the surgery Cooper went back to the OR to repair a leaky valve. Cooper finally had some time after that to rest and recover and made gains daily to finally be extubated, feeding and became a flirt with the nurses and doctors. On July 3rd, Cooper had his 3rd open heart surgery for the second stage of the repair of his heart. He is continuing to grow, and the family is hopeful that they will be able to bring him home for the first time within the next month! Between ages 2-4 Cooper will have a to come back to the hospital to hopefully have his his final stage surgery.
